Strikes and other industrial actions have been declared in the commerce sector and ski centres. Employees demand fair pay and better working conditions. Now is the time to act together!

Commerce sector

The Service Union PAM has declared industrial action in the commerce sector to speed up negotiations with employers’ association. Read more on negotiations and PAM’s demands

Ban on overtime, shift changes and temporary transfers in force

A ban on shift changes, temporary transfers and overtime is in force in the entire commerce sector, covering all employees and supervisors.

Strike at ski centres 

PAM declared a strike in ski centre industy that starts on 3 March 2025 at 00.01 and ends on 4 March 2025 at 23.59 (or at the end of a shift that started before midnight).

The strike is on work covered by the collective agreement for ski centres at the following companies:

  • Hiihtokeskus Iso Ylläs Oy (Ylläs, Kolari) 
  • Huippupaikat Oy (Vuokatti, Sotkamo; Tahko, Tahkovuori ja Kasurila, Siilinjärvi) 
  • Oy Levi Ski Resort Ltd (Kittilä) 
  • Pyhätunturi Oy (Pyhä, Pelkosenniemi) 
  • Rukakeskus Oy (Kuusamo) 
  • Ylläs-Ski Oy (Äkäslompolo)   

The strike does not apply to emergency work or tasks where it would put essential public services or human lives at risk.

Ban on overtime and shift changes

To speed up negotiations, PAM has declared a ban on overtime and shift changes that begins on Monday, 3 February 2025 at 00:01. The bans will end based on separate declaration. 

PAM’s strike pay to members 

You are entitled to strike pay if you joined PAM no later than the first day of the strike. PAM pays its members €100 per strike day. After tax, the sum paid out is €66.40 per day. Strike pay is for employees on strike who had a shift of at least a four hours scheduled during the strike and who therefore lost income because.
