Home » Overtime ban implemented across the entire commerce sector Press releases 07.02.2025 14:01 Overtime ban implemented across the entire commerce sector The Service Union United PAM continues its industrial actions in the commerce sector. Starting Monday, 10 February, an overtime ban will come into effect across the entire commerce sector. This ban applies to all employees in the industry and will remain in place until further notice. The overtime ban means that employees will not work overtime at the employer’s request. Overtime is always voluntary, and workers have every right to refuse it. PAM’s objective is to achieve a fair and just collective agreement for commerce sector employees. As there has not been sufficient progress in negotiations, PAM’s Executive committee has decided to impose an overtime ban in addition to the previously announced industrial actions. – The overtime ban will impact work in the week leading up to the potential strike and ensure the effectiveness of the strike,” says PAM’s Organisational Director Risto Kalliorinne. Efforts to resolve the labor dispute between PAM and the Finnish Commerce Federation have been ongoing under the National Conciliator’s leadership since Monday, 3 February. The next conciliation meeting is scheduled for Monday, 10 February. If the conciliation process does not yield results, extensive strikes in the commerce sector will begin as previously announced on Monday, 17 February. The industry is already subject to a previously declared ban on shift changes and temporary transfers.
