Members of PAM’s Impact Forum selected – “So many great applicants”

PAM’s Executive Committee has selected the 20 members of the new PAM Impact Forum. The Forum is set up to make sure international workers have a strong voice in the union. A total of sixty-three PAM members sent in their applications.

—We are very pleased that so many great applicants show interest in improving their union and working life. It is important for us that international workers have more influence in the union and at their workplaces, says PAM’s Executive Director Heidi Lehikoinen.

Many applicants were male, cleaners, and from Helsinki-Uusimaa region.

—In selecting the members of the Forum, PAM’s Executive committee wanted to ensure gender equality as well as representation from all regions and from all three of the largest agreement sectors, says Project Manager Marjut Pihonen

To those who were not selected or other who want to do more in the union, Pihonen says there are many ways to make a difference in PAM and for workers.

—You can engage in PAM Networks, help organise workers at your workplace or engage in your local union branch. And why not stand for union representative or occupational safety and health representative when they are selected at workplaces this Autumn, says Pihonen.

The Impact Forum is a new advisory body to the Executive committee. It is a group where workers from different backgrounds can share their experiences, influence union decisions, and help improve working conditions. It is organized by Service Union United PAM to make sure international workers have a strong voice in the union.
