A decisive week of negotiations coming in the property services sector

Negotiations over a new collective agreement for the property services sector have been active this week. The current agreement period ends on Monday, 31 March.

PAM and the Real Estate Employers continued negotiations for a new sectoral collective agreement twice this week. Some progress has been made on issues important to PAM, but many matters remain unresolved.

– As is often said, nothing is agreed until everything is agreed. There’s still a lot of work to be done to secure a good agreement for the sector’s workers and ensure fair pay increases that strengthen purchasing power, says PAM’s collective bargaining specialist Kaarina Ahonen.

According to Ahonen, it is a positive sign that the negotiations have remained constructive and open in tone. The upcoming week will be decisive for the entire process, as the end of the agreement period is rapidly approaching. Once the agreement period ends, the obligation to maintain industrial peace no longer applies—meaning possible industrial action would be legal.

– It’s still important to keep reminding colleagues in workplaces about the ongoing negotiations and the importance of union membership. It’s a simple and effective way to support the negotiations. That support really makes a difference at the bargaining table, Ahonen says.

The negotiations will continue next week with several meetings.
