The agreement is for one year and pay rises are primarily agreed locally in companies with a shop steward or representatives chosen by the personnel. “This agreement is the best possible in this situation. The timing for the negotiations was challenging, but the strike pressure in the sector paid off. The industry has good experiences with local agreements so we’ll see how companies are ready to find an agreement”, comments PAM's President Annika Rönni-Sällinen. If a local pay rise is not reached by 31 December 2022, the pay rise will be implemented as a general increase in accordance with a pay rise that will be negotiated for tourism, restaurant and leisure services at the beginning of the year. The increases will be paid retroactively from January 1, 2023, when a negotiation result has been reached. Pay scales, working hour supplements and compensation for show stewards will be increased based on a wage settlement for tourism, restaurant and leisure services starting on January 1, 2023. The settlement also included a reduction of working hours for those working at night. In addition, a provision on working alone based on The Occupational Safety and Health Act was entered in the agreement. The possibility to agree on seasonal overtime during 1 October – 30 April was agreed upon. The agreement is valid from 1 November 2022 to 31 October 2023.
